Could be great

I have submitted a number of reviews regarding these cute little guys, apparently for naught! I have even offered suggestions for making it first rate. I guess the manufacturer doesn’t care.

Anyway, i’ll try one more time. The turtle has two basic flaws. The first is the two small tabs that secure the turtle to the base. They are extremely flimsy and you can be assured one or both will snap off in a few weeks of use. At that point, the turtle is useless. A simple fix would be to have the turtle thread into the base, which would make it substantially better and easier to use, or at the very least make the tabs more substantial to minimize the chance of them snapping.

The second issue is that over time, water seeps into the white base and causes the turtle to be unbalanced. At that point the turtle floats around the pool on its side. The water can be drained, but it takes quite a while since the water isn’t supposed to be there in the first place. The fix would be to use a better adhesive on the white base, so water couldn’t intrude, or at least provide some small holes so that the water wouldn’t be trapped.

If the manufacturer would solve these two issues, it would make the turtle chlorine dispenser one of, if not the best dispenser on the market. I have modified the ones I purchased by reinforcing the tabs, and so far they’re working great. It would still be more convenient if the turtle threaded into the base, allowing for very easy addition of chlorine tablets.

Terrible product. Turtle fell off the first time I opened it. Not a good product.
