Swimming Santas
I've seen bad mall Santas in furry red coats and shiny black boots sitting astride velvet thrones waiting to ask a screaming Jane and Johnny what they want for Christmas. I've seen some seriously convincing Santas at family parties with real white beards who have jovial and rehearsed "ho-ho-hos!" I've seen Santas sitting in sleighs attached to real reindeer, doing their best white-gloved wave. But I don't think I've ever seen swimming Santas.
To spread Christmas cheer in December, it's become a tradition for divers at aquariums across the world to don the fat man's iconic uniform and go for a swim with the fishes.
Check out this slideshow from Time. These fantastic captures show some would-be-Kris-Kringles from Tokyo, Australia, and Kuala Lampur putting on a show for aquarium visitors. You'll see some amazing pictures of divers hugging zebra sharks, feeding sardines, and enjoying the company of sea turtles.
He's less likely to get milk and cookies from these underwater visits, but spreading holiday joy shouldn't be limited to us land-dwellers.
Here's hoping you have a wonderful Christmas! Happy Holidays from all of us at Sunplay!
