Total alkalinity in pool water should be maintained between 80 ppm and 125 ppm. In some instances it is recommended to keep total alkalinity as high as 175 ppm.
Maintaining proper total alkalinity will help prevent pH swings and help prevent damage to pool surfaces and equipment.
