This Hayward Wide Mouth Skimmer is “Just what the Dr. Ordered”. Immediately after installing & filtering I was experiencing Crystal Clear Pool Water! The additional skimming capacity not only helps keep the water stay clean & clear, but it has also lessened the amount of time I need to spend balancing and adjusting the pool chemistry.
I did find some frustration with leaks. The leaks occurred at and/or along the gasket. The most frustrating of all is the fact that you’re installing the product without the water at its normal operating level, so leaks don’t present themselves until you refill the pool. In my case the leak that had me super upset was the leak between the Wide Mouth Extension and the Skimmer body. These two parts must be screwed together prior to attaching the face plate to the pool & skimmer body. Once together you lose access to the screws holding the extension to the skimmer, a leak here means the entire unit must be unscrewed and removed as well the water must be drained below the skimmers hole

This is an excellent addition to any above ground pool that can withstand the weight. Easy to install even though it may be scary to cut through your pool liner to do it. The only thing I would like to see from the manufacturer is some sort of brace to be able to hold the weight so it doesn't pull on the liner.

This same skimmer was original equipment on my existing above ground pool which is now 20 years old. Gasket started leaking so I just replaced the whole thing. The price was very competitive, it was very simple to do and all of the parts were there it is original equipment and I am very pleased!
